Maths this week

Tirohanga have been learning about shapes this week. We have been identifying shapes, how many sides and corners they have and different ways we can group them.
We went on an 'I spy' hunt of the classroom and school to find as many different shapes as we could.
Here are a few photos.

Report Writing

Tirohanga have started writing reports. This week we wrote about Lizards. We went for a walk to our Skink Sanctuary near the staffroom and Te Whenua. Some of us spotted a few skinks darting around the garden.
We discovered that the Komodo Dragon is the largest lizard - it grows more than 3 metres long. We drew a line of 3 metres to see how long that is. Kees lay down next to the line to show just how long it really is!!
Keep an eye out in the newsletter for some super writing from our class.

Splish Splash Day

Piwakawaka are having our Splish Splash Day on Monday 21st March from 11:30 am finishing before lunchtime (1pm).

We would love to see as many parents/grandparents/aunties/uncles/cousins/friends as possible supporting our super swimmers.

Each student can choose three events they want to participate in.

This event is about participation and every student will receive a participation certificate.

Please help your child remember their swimming gear ensuring it is named, sunblock in the morning and a hat.

We look forward to seeing you there. :)

CCCs

A reminder that CCCs are this week. Wednesday 3:30-7pm and Thursday 12-5:30pm.
School will finish at 12pm on Thursday.
If you have forgotten your time you can log on to www.schoolinterviews.co.nz and use the code nn7hq

I am looking forward to seeing you all there and talking about your child's learning.

Assembly

Tirohanga did an outstanding job at leading assembly on Friday. We shared our Mihi and Portraits that we have been working hard on. We also sang a song with actions for everyone.
Below are some photos Miss Stuart took of us.
Super job Tirohanga, you should all be very proud of yourselves!

Buddy Class

We are super excited to have Te Moana and Whaea Ma as our Buddy Class this year. We have been meeting every Friday to have Karakia, buddy reading and lots of other things. We saw some awesome work they did and decided to give it a go ourselves. Our buddies came to help us with portraits that tell you a little bit about us. We can't wait to show the finished product at assembly next week! Great examples of Whakawhanaungatana - working together as a community and Collaboration.
